The Library Center of the Ozarks is committed to enriching the lives of Taney County residents through access to books, technology, and community programs. As the district’s first public library system, we honor our legacy while striving to meet the evolving needs of our community.
Library Center of the Ozark’s rich history began in 1933 when a group of Presbyterian women united to form a study club. Motivated by a desire to provide books to the surrounding area, these women formed Taneyhills Library after receiving a donated copy of The Shepherd of the Hills. Taneyhills Library served the Taney County community as a private library for decades until January 2, 2024, when it became Library Center of the Ozarks, Taney County’s first public library. LCO now serves the Branson and Hollister communities by providing books, computer and Wi-Fi access, essential public resources, and engaging programs for all ages.
The future of the Library Center of the Ozarks looks bright!
LCO recently celebrated its one year anniversary as a public library.
The Library staff and Board of Trustees have been working hard this past year to update the facility, expand the size and scope of the collection, hire and train essential staff, draft working polices and procedures, provide programming for all ages, amplify the library’s voice, and so much more!
The 2024 Annual Report is now available. The report highlights our remarkable accomplishments and meaningful impact. The work done helps to strengthen the community, expand literacy and knowledge, and enrich the quality of life in the community.
This is just the beginning! LCO experienced many success in 2024 and is excited about doing the same in 2025. The library staff is already planning new and innovative ways to ignite a passion for learning by connecting individuals to new resources and new services.
Stop by the library to see the many changes, check out a book, take a program, or visit with a friend.
