Book-A-Librarian is a service that allows you to work one-on-one with LCO staff in a 30-minute session to help you with a wide range of topics.

Tech Help

Get help with learning the basics of a computer, setting up an email account, using your laptop, tablet, or iPad, and using the features on your cellphone.

Special Library Services

Get help with downloading the Libby and hoopla apps for eBooks and audiobooks, using Mango to learn a new language, and using the Gale Legal Forms database.

Software

Get help with using software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Social Media

Get help with setting up an account and learning the basics of Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and other social media platforms.

Test Proctoring

Library staff may proctor exams for students who have a library card. Please read the special Proctoring Guidelines before making an appointment.

  • Service is available by appointment only.
  • Appointments are limited to one customer per appointment. 
  • Service is available at no cost for library cardholders in good standing. Need a Card? 
  • Appointments typically last 30 minutes.
  • Please bring your own device if you need help with your cellphone, laptop, eReader, etc.
  • We cannot offer advice (e.g., medical, legal, financial, tax preparation) except to advise users of reputable sources of evaluative information.
  • We cannot write, type, or proofread your document, résumé, cover letter, etc.
  • We cannot fill out a job application for you. 
  • We cannot offer maintenance help on your personal computer, device, or cellphone.
  • We cannot assist with software updates, factory resets, lost or forgotten passwords, or troubleshooting hardware and software malfunctions.

Please provide as much detail as possible when registering for your appointment.

  • Call the library 417-334-1418 during business hours.
  • Ask a library employee at the front desk to schedule an appointment.
If you cannot make it to your appointment, please cancel your appointment through your confirmation email or by contacting the library. 
  • Library staff cannot provide direct in-room supervision while the student is taking the test.
    • If your institution requires that you receive constant, uninterrupted observation, we cannot proctor your exam. 
    • Staff will periodically observe the student as time allows.
  • Exams must be completed 30 minutes before the Library closes.
  • Students must bring their own supplies. 
  • Application for an appointment must be submitted at least 3 days prior to test date.
  • Approval for proctoring is dependent upon staffing and room availability.
  • Student must present a photo ID at the time of testing to verify their identity.
  • Student is responsible for contacting school or professor to provide test or exam.
  • Instructors or students are responsible for all arrangements and preparation.
  • Student must use personal laptop or electronic device to administer online test.
  • Staff may return completed exams electronically or by mail if postage and envelope are supplied by student.
  • LCO reserves the right to refuse proctoring an exam that is deemed too restrictive or demanding and if two appointments are missed without notice.
