Before You Buy: Consumer Reports

Have you ever struggled with making a purchase? If so, you are not alone. Factors like an item’s price, durability, and availability can make even the simplest purchases difficult. The sheer number of brands and products alone can leave buyers feeling paralyzed in their shopping decisions. What if you had a team of personal shoppers to review and rank products before you make your purchase? With Consumer Reports, you do!

The Library Center of the Ozarks is pleased to offer Consumer Reports Magazine, an independent, nonprofit publication that features product reviews and rankings from over 130 investigative journalists. With Consumer Reports, buying becomes a breeze. Founded in the 1930s during a time of loose advertising, rapid technological progress, and shoddy regulation, Consumer Reports was created to empower consumers with reliable and trustworthy information to make informed buying decisions. Consumer Reports tests thousands of products every year, including food, gardening equipment, household/kitchen appliances, computers/tablets, and even cars, plus much more. Products are then ranked according to various factors, like price, comfort, safety, and durability so that buyers can purchase the products that best suit their needs.

Consumer Reports Magazine is available inside the Library Center of the Ozarks, found in the newspaper/magazine rack. Next time you need to make a significant purchase, stop by LCO and see if Consumer Reports can help!
